Elite Performance Therapy back on tour at the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España, November 2024!

From 28 November to 1 December 2024, Isy from Elite Performance Therapy will be back on tour working at the Real Guadalhorce Golf Club in Málaga where they will be staging for the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España, one of the most anticipated events on the Ladies European Tour (LET). The tournament will bring together the top 64 players in the rankings, along with 11 invited competitors, in a spectacular display of global talent.
Among the stars are international icons such as Carlota Ciganda, champion at Los Naranjos in 2021 and a four-time Solheim Cup winner; Anne Van Dam, a two-time tournament winner (2018 and 2019); Caroline Hedwall, the 2022 champion; and Aditi Ashok, who claimed victory at Las Brisas in 2023.
What’s on the agenda?!
Isy will be working alongside the principal physiotherapy practitioner from Sports Physiotherapy International Co. Ltd, LET Sports Nutritionist and LET Sports and Conditioning Therapist for her 5th consecutive year, supporting all the players during the week long tournament. Given the technicalities of this unique course it should prove a busy and exciting week keeping all the players injury free and fighting fit!

The Guadalhorce course is a par 72 with two very distinct parts: the first nine holes are a typical English ” parkland ” with unsophisticated vegetation, which extends over gentle hills and valleys, while on the second nine holes we find more diversified fairways and water areas that influence five holes.
But without a doubt the greatest difficulty of this course lies in its greens, which are fast and have slopes that are difficult to execute. The wind, which is usually present on the course, will be the other major factor to take into account, and which will determine the experience of the professionals on this exceptional course.
Ángel Gancedo Arjona , president of the club.
Some of our top tips – Resistance Bands!
It goes without saying that Pro golfers travel A LOT… and not always with access to a gym. Therefore to maintain their strength and conditioning work and keep injury free, many incorporate using resistance bands on a daily basis.
Using resistance bands for your golf workouts also helps put an emphasis on flexibility, stability, and injury prevention. There is a progressive build up of tension when you reach the end ranges while using a resistance band, which makes exercises easily modifiable based on one’s current movement capacity, strength, and mobility.

Here are a few of our best resistance band exercises to help you become a better golfer!
Figure of Eights

Take one of your resistance bands and place it around your wrists. Press your arms out to create tension on the band. While maintaining this tension, make a horizontal figure eight shape repeatedly for 30-45 seconds.
Benefits for Golfers : Enhances shoulder stability and mobility, improving control and precision in your swing.
Monster Walks

Start on one end of your mat. Place the mini band around your legs, just below the knee. Drop into a ¼ squat, keeping your back flat and core engaged. In this position, begin walking with wide steps to the other end of the mat, once there, walk backwards to return to the other side. Walk back and forth for 30-45 seconds.
Benefits for Golfers : Strengthens the hips and glutes, essential for stability and maintaining a strong, balanced stance.
Alternating Mini Band Row w/Rotation

Hold both ends of the mini band, hinge at your hips while keeping a slight bend in the knee until you’re in the start position (picture 1). Keep one arm straight while doing a row with the other arm (picture 2). Switch sides and repeat. Alternate back and forth for 30-45 seconds.
Benefits for Golfers : Strengthens the upper back and improves rotational power, paramount for a more powerful and controlled swing
Best of Luck!
Wishing all the ladies the very best of luck in Malaga this week! See you on the course :).
